More than ever before countries in this part of the world are embracing strategic planning which in turn requires effective risk management, performance monitoring and compliance with various laws, standards, governance codes etc. for effective and efficient achievement of their visions and missions. In Kenya we have vision 2030. To achieve this vision the government must work with various development partners and the private sector. In addition performance contracting and monitoring has become the norm. As countries develop strategies and implement, there is need for professional services as they strive to improve governance and embrace international best practices. Human capital is the most important resource as without it all other resources and initiatives would be useless. Capacity building is key not only at director level to ensure good governance but also at other levels to ensure risks are managed, efficiency in operations, accountability, transparency, etc. Boards of directors and top management require assurance that things are working as expected.


It is now a requirement for all public sector entities to develop and implement, e-procurement, risk management frameworks, codes of ethics, etc. Mwongozo, The Code of Governance for State Corporations, signed by the president of the republic of Kenya in December 2014 requires lays down the responsibilities of boards in the oversight of public entities regarding leadership, governance and management of public resources and that Boards be evaluated to ensure continual improvement. This requires a paradigm shift in the way training is done to ensure people are equipped to undertake these important responsibilities. I addition, we intend to help our customers comply with the new requirement as the per the PFM guidelines on internal audit quality assessments.


As the world has become a global village, compliance with international standards and best practices for example in finance, supply chain management and audit is key.
